the clock crew are great heroes

I'm glad they saved twilight

quite good

The fact that this only has a 3.68 and 18 reviews upsets me. It's better than anything I could do, and my retarded shit has high scores for days.

You obviously put considerable effort into this. Great attention has been paid to the visual aesthetic. The shading and environmental effects are nicely atmospheric, and I like the contrast between the defined lines on the rocks, and trees, etc. and the soft city backdrop.

Some of the animations leave something to be desired. Noticeably flawed was the foreshortening on the red-haired fellow's legs during the high angel shot where the car was coming toward the camera, and the car didn't seem to move relative to its placement on the road when he was approaching the window after the crash. But these things don't detract too much from the overall flash. The crash was REALLY well done, as were most of the smoke, splatter, and weather effects. I like that the rain changed relative to the camera angle- that can't have been easy. The animation in the scene with the injured man in the driver's seat reminded me (positively) of Aeon Flux.

Hope to see more.

thank you for your awesome review, i understand fully what you mean about some of the points your pointed out like the inaccuracies like placement etc. Glad you enjoyed it too :-) i really spent a lot and lot of time trying to get everything feeling really cinematic and the overall look and i guess this detracted me from getting everything else perfect like the animation for example.

Im also really glad you compared the style aeon flux, i absolutely love animation style for that and its huge huge influence of my drawing style. glad you picked up on that!

great feedback my friend

this is the best movie on newgrounds

I liked the part with strawberryclock

I love the subtlety

When making flash movies, there's a tendency to blow the animation wad on over-the-top action sequences- if an amateur animator actually animated something, he usually makes damn sure that everybody watching notices that he did. And besides that, the jokes, such as they are, usually fly a mile a minute, the artist seemingly seeking to stick whatever he can manage to the wall.

Here, though, there are many subtle actions, from a character standing up, to the attention payed to the lip-syncing, to very slight twists of the hands, that are by no measure the focus of the shot. It gives the overall presentation a very refined, enlightened feeling- thoroughly hip. And it's long. I don't want to say protracted... just, about as long as it should be. You've a wonderful sense of pacing.

You draw well, too. That gets said a lot, but, like, you actually do. You know what you're doing. A lot of the jokers on this site, myself included, kind of just fake it. Even with the somewhat cartoony style, though, that's not evident here. The characters have sculptural integrity. It looks like their clothes are ON them. That sounds ridiculous, but in a lot of flash movies, the clothes look like a part of the character.

There're no pies being thrown, no over-the-top reactions, or violence. No maudlin melodrama, played straight or otherwise. It feels real, for lack of a better word. Almost slice-of-life.

Just a nifty, entertaining, intricately constructed flash movie. One of those times I wish I didn't throw 10's and 5's out all willy-nilly, so that they'd actually mean something when I enjoy something this much.

Looking forward to more from you.

happy valenine's day

hope u rememered 2 wear green!! ha! ha! ha!

Golly

I can't believe it's been more than 4 years since this first came out.

With thorough knowledge of Flash and awareness of weight and the physics of movement, I have a hard time watching most flash animations without a critical eye anymore.

But watching this, the magic is still there- I don't mentally critique any of the motions, I don't think about how one effect of another was pulled off. All of that just fades into the background, and I'm left with the simple, wonderful experience of watching a cartoon.

Absolutely, positively 10/10. I wish I were one fifth the animator Dan Paladin is.

I liked the part with me in it, I'm a fan of him.

I feel like I owe you a movie now.

Hmm, hmm...
